Portuguese Club Newsletter #2 (11/01/2024)
Boa tarde,
We at the SLC Portuguese Club hope that everyone had a great reading week. As it was our mid-semester break, we thought it would be appropriate to hold off on a newsletter. We continue to see steady growth with the club, with multiple new members joining this past week. This is great news! With more members comes more opportunities for the club to express itself on campus, whether through events, giveaways or fundraisers. I am hopeful that we can continue our steady growth and build a club that is recognizable by all students at SLC.
In other news, SLC Athletics have announced a flag football tournament that is to be held on Sunday, November 17th. Considering our clubs focus on athletics at the moment, club officers have agreed that it would be in the best interest of the club to form a team. If anyone reading would like to sign up and help the Portuguese Club claim victory at the flag football tournament, they are welcome to join on the IMLeague website. If flag football is not your thing, but you still want to be involved in SLCPOR Athletics, don't worry! While it may be too late to apply for this semester’s soccer and volleyball seasons, the club hopes to have teams registered in ALL available sports for the coming winter semester season.
Finally, we at the club are still working with the SA to get club merchandise made, including New Era brand baseball caps and Nike branded sweaters. These items, if they are to be approved, will be available at cost to whoever wants them, and a survey will be coming out soon, so feel free to submit to the survey with your thoughts on merchandise. Furthermore, feel free to submit ideas for future events and giveaways.
For all those who continue to support and be a part of our club, obrigado!
Regards,
Quinton Manuel Ferreira Raposo
Club Founder and President
